StepsFit ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application StepsFit (the "App").
By using our App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
Health and Motion Data
StepsFit accesses the following data with your explicit permission:
- Apple HealthKit (read-only): Step count, walking/running distance, active calories, floors climbed, active minutes
- Motion & Activity (CoreMotion): Real-time step tracking and activity monitoring
Note: StepsFit only reads health data. We do not write or modify any data in Apple Health.
Usage Data
We may collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the App experience:
- App feature usage patterns
- Widget configuration preferences
- Theme selection preferences
- Goal achievement statistics
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Display your daily, weekly, and monthly step statistics
- Calculate distance traveled and calories burned
- Show progress toward your daily goals
- Generate charts and visualizations of your activity
- Power home screen widgets with your step data
- Create shareable achievement cards (Pro feature)
- Send motivational notifications (if enabled)
Data Storage and Security
Local Storage
All your health data remains on your device. StepsFit does not upload, transmit, or store your health data on any external servers. Your data is stored locally using:
- SwiftData for app data persistence and daily statistics
- UserDefaults for app preferences and settings
- App Group Container for sharing data with widgets
- HealthKit framework for accessing health metrics (read-only)
iCloud Sync
If you have iCloud enabled on your device, your app preferences and settings may sync across your devices using Apple's encrypted iCloud service. Health data is never included in iCloud sync.
Security Measures
We implement the following security measures:
- All data access requires explicit user permission
- Health data is accessed read-only from HealthKit
- No network requests contain personal health information
- App follows Apple's security best practices
Third-Party Services
Apple Services
StepsFit integrates with the following Apple services:
- HealthKit: To read your health and fitness data
- StoreKit: For in-app purchases (Pro features)
- WidgetKit: To display widgets on your home screen
- UserNotifications: For optional motivational reminders
Advertising (Free Users Only)
For users on the free plan, StepsFit displays advertisements through Google AdMob to support the app's development. Pro subscribers do not see any advertisements.
These ads may include:
- Banner advertisements on certain screens
- Occasional interstitial advertisements between actions
What data may be collected by ad services:
- Device information (device type, OS version)
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
- If you allow tracking, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) may be used for personalized ads
You can control ad personalization:
- When prompted, choose "Ask App Not to Track" to receive non-personalized ads
- You can change this anytime in Settings > Privacy > Tracking
- Upgrade to Pro to remove all advertisements

Analytics
We may use Apple's built-in App Analytics to understand app usage patterns. This data is anonymous and cannot be linked to individual users. You can opt-out of App Analytics in your device's Privacy settings.
Your Rights and Choices
Data Access and Control
You have complete control over your data:
- Revoke HealthKit access at any time in Settings > Privacy > Health > StepsFit
- Delete all app data by uninstalling the App
- Disable notifications in Settings > Notifications > StepsFit
- Manage widget permissions in Settings > StepsFit
GDPR Rights (European Users)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:
- Right to access your personal data
- Right to rectification of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
- Right to restrict processing
- Right to data portability
- Right to object to processing
CCPA Rights (California Users)
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to know what personal information is collected
- Right to delete personal information
- Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights
Children's Privacy
StepsFit is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your health data is never shared with anyone. The only sharing that occurs is:
- When you explicitly choose to share achievement cards via the share feature
- Anonymous analytics data with Apple (if you haven't opted out)
- As required by law or to protect our rights
Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Significant changes will be communicated through the App or via the email associated with your Apple ID.
You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
